How to Audition

Audition Rules for 2017-18 Season

Deadlines & Fee

Registration fee: $30 paid online (see below).
Video auditions (preferred) are due by August 20, 2017.
Live auditions for remaining open positions will happen at Roosevelt High School on September 9, 2017.

What are the steps to audition for SCO?

  1. Record and upload a YouTube video (details below)
    • Please refer to specific instrumental scales and excerpts below.
    • Make sure that your video is UNLISTED or PUBLIC on YouTube.
  2. Fill out an online application form under Auditions.
    • STUDENT APPLICATION is for musicians under the age of 20 years.
    • COMMUNITY APPLICATION is for musicians 20 years and over.
    • You will put your links to your audition videos in the online application, so make sure these are done first.
  3. Submit the $25 audition fee:
    • Click on the Donate button below and follow the links. Make sure that you add a note that your payment is for the fee.

If the video or application fee requirements make it difficult for you to audition, please contact Anna Edwards at scoannaedwards@gmail.com or info@seattlecollaborativeorchestra.org to make other arrangements.

Video Requirements

  • Only video recordings, uploaded to YouTube, will be accepted.
  • Your audition will not be judged on video or audio quality – recording on cell phones is acceptable.
  • Video can be stopped and started between excerpts, but individual excerpts may not be spliced or edited.
  • Make your video unlisted or public on YouTube! Otherwise, we will not be able to watch it.
