Garnering accolades for recent performances in Cincinnati, San Antonio, Perth, Australia, and elsewhere, soprano Marcy Stonikas began her professional career as a Seattle Opera Young Artist, and she continues to perform major roles with Seattle Opera, most recently as Ariadne in Ariadne auf Naxos by Richard Strauss. Of her performance as Turandot in Cincinnati, Jow Law of Opera News wrote “In the title role, Marcy Stonikas was fearless, hurling the riddles at Calàf and riding the massive ensemble at the end of the second act. There was sweetness as well when the music revealed Turandot’s vulnerability. It was an impressive debut, and it would be good to hear more from Stonikas.”
Marcy was a Finalist in the 2014 International Wagner Competition, held in Seattle, and has won the Gerda Lissner Voice Competition and Leone Rysanek Award in the George London Vocal Competition, both in 2013. She has earned degrees in vocal performance from Oberlin College Conservatory and the Chicago College of Performing Arts at Roosevelt University.
