Skyros Quartet

skyros_quartet_croppedSCO is thrilled to welcome the members of the Skyros Quartet as principals in the violin, viola and cello string sections.    Founded in 2010, the quartet received a Masters in Chamber Music Performance from the University of Texas at Austin Sarah and Ernest Butler School of Music, mentored by the Miró Quartet and Sandy Yamamoto. In 2012, they began a residency in Nebraska as the first Graduate Quartet-in-Residence at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Glenn Korff School of Music, where they pursued Doctorates in Chamber Music Performance under the guidance of the Chiara String Quartet.

Their debut album, INTROSPECTIVE ODYSSEY, was released on August 14, 2015 from Navona Records.  This recording of works by Benjamin Britten (Three Divertimenti), a tone poem by Joaquín Turina (La Oración del Torero, or The Prayer of the Bullfighter), and Jean Sibelius’ String Quartet in D minor, Op. 56, feature captivating and emotive interpretations by the Skyros Quartet and show them as a versatile, fastidious, and passionate group, versed in performing a number of musical styles and traditions.

Skyros recently relocated to the Seattle area. They can be seen performing, teaching, and leading community events in their new hometown, as well as concertizing around the US and Canada.  To learn more about the group and upcomomng performances, see
